Famous, small batch, gourmet cookies made with love in L.A.

GET TO KNOW

Milk Jar Cookies is an adorable, shabby chic cookie shop, nestled along a historic corridor of Los Angeles known as the Miracle Mile, where they hand-roll every cookie and bake them in small batches from morning ’til night. It was founded on the idea that enjoying a cookie and a glass of milk could be elevated to a gourmet dining experience.

Since its inception, Milk Jar Cookies has earned a loyal fanbase, and has been the go-to gift for friends and Fortune 500 companies alike, as well as a national press darling, including features in O, The Oprah Magazine and on the Today Show. In 2017, they became known worldwide when they collaborated with Williams Sonoma on a line of baking mixes. And now, Founder Courtney Cowan has shared 75 recipes for her irresistible cookies, classic cakes and pies, no-bake treats, and more in her new cookbook, the Milk Jar Cookies Bakebook. Or, of course you can just order their freshly made cookies to be delivered to your door - no baking required on your part.

Their Instagram-worthy, thick and chewy cookies come in flavors ranging from your favorites like Chocolate Chip and Oatmeal Raisin, to the more unique Banana Split, Chocolate Pecan Caramel, and White Chocolate Raspberry. Gluten free is also available.

FEMALE FOUNDER’S STORY

Founder Courtney Cowan shares the story of how Milk Jar Cookies was born: “I’ve always loved baking, and specifically baking cookies. When we were kids, my sister and I would make cookies all the time (mainly to eat the dough, if I’m being honest), and when I was in my teens, I came up with my own recipe. As I perfected it over time, it became very popular with friends, family, and eventually co-workers. After several instances of people mistaking them for “bakery” cookies, I realized I might have created something special. In 2005, I began experimenting with a variety of flavors and started an online business. I loved the thought that, with each of the deliveries I made, someone’s day got a little bit brighter, and the end goal quickly became to go brick & mortar. I wanted a shop where I could host these people and provide a place to enjoy a cookie and a glass of milk. In 2012, I decided to take the leap, and Milk Jar Cookies opened its doors in April 2013!”
