Ever since she was a young girl, Founder Dr. Tieraona Low Dog has been interested in the natural world and natural medicine. She studied and practiced massage therapy, martial arts, midwifery, and herbal medicine, serving as the President of the American Herbalist’s Guild, before going on to receive her medical degree. Dr. Low Dog is recognized as one of the leading experts in integrative medicine, particularly in the area of women’s health. She is a founding member of the American Board of Physician Specialties, American Board of Integrative Medicine, and the Academy of Women’s Health, and she was appointed by President Bill Clinton to serve on the White House Commission for Complementary and Alternative Medicine Policy.
She has written many scientific articles and books, co-authored National Geographic’s Guide to Medicinal Herbs and The Botanical Safety Handbook, has been a speaker at hundreds of medical/scientific conferences, and has received numerous awards.
